If you don\u2019t already have a consistent dental hygiene routine in place, now\u2019s the perfect time to create one. Keep reading to learn about 3 daily habits that will keep your smile happy this October!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Habit #1: Brushing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This may seem obvious, but brushing your pearly whites every day is an essential part of any oral healthcare practice. Acids from the food we eat and unhealthy bacteria in our mouths wear down your protective enamel over time. This can lead to cavities and other issues that can seriously impact your dental well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you brush your teeth, you scrub away any unwanted microbes and plaque buildup that could lead to issues down the road. You should brush twice every day; once in the morning and again before bed at night. Plan on brushing for at least 2 minutes at a time for a thorough clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Habit #2: Flossing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of people figure that brushing their teeth twice a day is sufficient, but our gums need attention, too! Germs can thrive in places you can\u2019t reach very well with a toothbrush like between teeth and below the gum line. If bacteria penetrate below your gums, it can lead to infection and disease. By flossing twice every day, you regularly cleanse your gums so that they remain strong and intact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Habit #3: Rinsing With Mouthwash<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Brushing and flossing are great ways to keep your teeth and gums clear of unwanted particles, but this doesn\u2019t necessarily clear them from the rest of your mouth. Fortunately, mouthwash can help! Swishing an antimicrobial rinse around your mouth and between your teeth ensures that bacteria don\u2019t have any places to hide. Include this as the final step in your twice-daily routine, and your smile will be sparkling fresh all day long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One final way you can ensure your mouth stays in top condition is to schedule regular dental appointments. Seeing your dentist twice a year at 6-month intervals allows them to identify and treat any potential areas of concern before they can progress into anything worse.
